Module 1 - Driver Fitness & Wellbeing
This 3.5hours module covers subjects such as,
Explain the legal requirements for managing driver fitness, health and impairment.
Drug and alcohol misuse and how it affects health, performance, conduct and safety.
Personal Health & Wellbeing.
Physical Health & Wellbeing.
Module 2 - Drivers Hours & Working Times
By the end of this 3.5hours module drivers will be able to:
Explain the rules regarding Drivers Hours and Working time in European Union (EU) and Great Britain (GB)
Explain how to record activities using both digital and analogue tachographs.
Explain the consequences of non-compliance and understand the framework that governs the road transport industry.
Module 3 - FORS LoCity
By the end of the training course delegates will be able to:
Explain why there is a need to reduce environmental impact and improve air quality.
Check your vehicle and in-vehicle technology to reduce emissions.
Apply fuel-efficient driving techniques and journey planning to improve efficiency.
Describe the latest renewable fuels available for commercial and passenger vehicles.
Module 4 - Managing Abnormal Loads
By the end of this 3.5hours module delegates will be able to:
Describe the differences between construction and use, abnormal construction and use, and abnormal special type load movements.
Apply the rules of STGO movement conditions dependent on vehicle weight, dimensions, lighting and marking.
Plan routes and correctly notify the relevant authorities using the ESDAL system and AIL movement application forms
Ensure attendants and escorts are competent and escort vehicles are correctly marked and equipped
Module 5 - Safe Loading
By the end of this 3.5 hours module the delegates shall be aware of how to
Ensure the loads carried are secured in such a manner that they cause no risk of falling off and injuring either the driver or any other person during the loading, unloading or transit.
Ensure the vehicles GVW or axle weights are not exceeded.
Ensure the drivers are aware of their responsibilities regards the vehicle and its load, and that they do not breach any regulations
Module 6 - Security & Counter Terrorism
By the end of this 3.5hours module delegates shall understand and be familiar with
Actions to take to prevent their vehicles from being hijacked and the contents stolen and sold to fund terrorist organisations.
Actions to implement in the case of witnessing a terrorist act or persons acting suspiciously.
The risk of their vehicles being used as a weapon.
Be able to emphasise the importance of the role of the driver safeguarding themselves, their colleagues and the general public by ensuring that the HGV/PCV driver, their vehicles, including the loads they carry, remain safe, secure and legal at all times.
Module 7 - Understanding Fines & Charges
By the end of this 3.5hours module delegates will,
Be aware of the amount a driver must pay if they have broken the law.
Be aware of the legal framework that governs the transport industry.
Module 8 - Vehicle Raodworthiness & Load Security
This 3.5hours module delegates will,
Ensure those involved in maintaining vehicles in a roadworthy condition understand the requirements, regardless of fleet size or vehicle type.
Be aware of their responsibilities as a driver and as an operator regards the fleet's roadworthiness.
Be aware of the regulatory framework in place that governs the road transport industry.
